Telusu Kada Movie Review: A Unique Story, A One-Time Watch

The movie “Telusu Kada” hit theaters with a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Among all the films released for Diwali, this was the last one watched. Overall, after watching the film, it leaves a feeling of being a one-time watchable experience and is certainly not a movie to be dismissed.

The Unique Storyline

“Telusu Kada” tackles a unique subject that hasn’t been explored before. Dealing with such a mature subject is not an easy task. The basic story revolves around a chef named Siddu Jonnalagadda, who marries Raashii Khanna. Some time after their marriage, they discover they cannot have children. The narrative then explores the decision they make and the troubles the hero subsequently faces because of it, ultimately revealing what unfolds.

Performances and Direction

The hero, Siddu Jonnalagadda’s acting, stands out as a significant plus point. His performance was truly inspiring, demonstrating the perfect body language for his role’s dialogues, effectively conveying tension, struggle, and the feeling of being caught between two situations. This performance showed a clear variation from his previous works. The dialogues are exceptionally well-written, featuring meaningful and engaging conversations, particularly the initial interactions when he meets Raashii Khanna. Dedicated scenes are included to justify why certain characters behave the way they do, which helps in better storytelling for such narratives. Raashii Khanna delivered a strong performance, having “nailed her role,” while Srinidhi Shetty’s presence was noted as acceptable.

Music and Technical Aspects

S. Thaman’s music is a significant asset to the film. The songs “Mallika Gandham” and “Sugasu Chudataru” are highlighted as excellent. The background score also contributes positively to the big-screen experience. Additionally, Viva Harsha’s comedic timing was deemed passable.

Areas for Improvement

While the subject is unique, it is also quite bold, suggesting it may not appeal to everyone. The main issues arise in the second half, where the presentation of emotions, especially regarding why the hero behaves in a certain way (sometimes making him appear like a villain), and Raashii Khanna’s character’s side, feel weak. These elements occupy a major portion of the second half and would have benefited from clearer presentation. From Raashii Khanna’s perspective, the narrative can feel unfair, questioning the hero’s behavior. The conclusion in the second half is also largely predictable. Some portions, like the sudden conviction after Annapurnamma’s words, and the love story flashbacks in the first half, were identified as minor drawbacks.

Family Viewing Suitability

It’s important to note that “Telusu Kada” contains some scenes that could cause discomfort, making it unsuitable for family viewing.

Diwali Film Ranking

Among the Diwali releases, this film was placed second in terms of preference by the reviewer. The order of liked films was:

  1. Dude
  2. Telusu Kada
  3. Tam
  4. K. Ramp
  5. Mitramandali

Final Verdict

“Telusu Kada” is a good film, offering feel-good elements and strong emotions. The hero’s performance and the story are definitive advantages. However, it’s not a movie for everyone, and the lack of clarity in certain scenes during the second half are points against it. Ultimately, it stands as a one-time watchable film.
