Sandheham Movie Review: A Disappointing Love Story on ETV Win

The Telugu film “Sandheham,” clocking in at a runtime of two hours, has recently premiered on ETV Win. While the title translates to ‘doubt,’ there’s absolutely no doubt in our minds that this movie is an unconvincing, boring, and over-the-top marriage love story.

What is Sandheham About? (Basic Storyline)

The movie kicks off with a lady police officer arresting Hebah Patel, questioning her with “What did you do to your husband? What is your relationship with Arya?” This arrest sets the stage, with the subsequent story unfolding in flashbacks to reveal what transpired and why the arrest was made.

Performances – A Mixed Bag

Regarding performances, the hero, heroine, and the police officer in their roles were deemed ‘okay.’ However, the lead actor’s performance was notably praised. The reviewer expressed a strong liking for the hero’s acting, noting that his role includes a twist that shouldn’t be revealed. His overall performance and dance in the climax were good, indicating that he possesses talent and could thrive with a strong script.

Hebah Patel, despite being made to overact in certain scenes, showcased good screen presence. She also appeared traditionally beautiful in some parts of the film.

The Love Story & Its Flaws

The core love story, particularly the twist envisioned by the filmmakers, was found to be over-the-top and completely illogical, lacking any genuine emotion or ‘feel.’ The film also rehashed the ‘corona concept,’ which the reviewer found unappealing. While the script itself had the potential to be crafted into a good love story, the overall execution proved to be a significant letdown.

Technical Aspects – Hits and Misses

In terms of music, one or two songs were considered bearable. However, the background music (BGM) lacked any significant impact. The cinematography presented a mixed bag; while some parts were well-shot, others unfortunately reminded the reviewer of a YouTube web series.

Major Drawbacks and Unconvincing Elements

The film suffers from several critical minus points. The execution was largely boring and unconvincing from the very beginning. Sound issues were present both at the start and during a flashback song in the second half, where the music would abruptly cut off.

A significant portion of the film’s issues stemmed from the depiction of the ex-boyfriend. Scenes where he spoke excessively without considering the husband’s presence, coupled with Hebah Patel’s lack of reaction followed by immediate casual conversation, were irritating. The husband’s reaction to these situations also felt unnatural, akin to someone losing a game rather than reacting to a serious marital intrusion. The ex-boyfriend’s constant entry into the house without permission and the husband’s decision to leave him as a companion when going out for two days were entirely unconvincing. An attempt to replicate the “Rabb Ne Bana Di Jodi” style in one situation also felt forced and unoriginal.

Furthermore, the scenes set during the ‘corona time’ lacked any thrill. The film’s ending felt padded with unnecessary songs; three songs were crammed into the last 25 minutes – a romantic song after the movie’s conclusion, a love song in the pre-climax, and a dance song during the end credits. After another twist was revealed, a scene depicting two characters facing each other in a shopping mall felt illogical and unnecessary.

Is Sandheham Family-Friendly?

The review advises caution for family viewing. Specific scenes that might cause discomfort include a scene involving the hero’s sister in the middle of the second half, a romantic song with Hebah Patel at the end, and several ex-boyfriend dialogues throughout the movie.

Final Verdict & Rating

Ultimately, “Sandheham” attempted to try something different with its script, but the execution faltered significantly, causing the film to misfire. The reviewer personally found it unlikable, labeling it a boring and unconvincing film. Based on this personal opinion, the movie receives a rating of 1.75 (out of 5).
